Balance me congested skin serum review

Balance me is a UK brand that has had a line of natural body products for a few years now but they only introduced skincare range last year. I absolutely love their shower gels and hand creams and of course wanted to see if the skincare would be as good.

Balance me congested skin serum.

Thankfully my skin has been pretty good this past year, so I have not had much cause to use spot treatments.

In fact I have bought balance me congested skin serum last year and it sat in my skincare basket unopened until may. It seems that whenever I get ill my routine goes out of the window, the most I do is wipe my face with some rosewater. What I am trying to say is that spots are pretty much guaranteed when I'm sick and this May was no exception.

This is where this little miracle bottle comes in. When I reached the point that I cared about looking in the mirror ( not completely back to normal but well enough to venture outside) I started using it.

Serum is a light gel slightly yellow in colour and has a fresh lemony scent. Lemon can be photosensitising so if you are using this in the morning make sure to follow with a sunscreen.

Like other spot treatments, you apply it directly to the area that troubles you, however this serum is totally non drying so feel free to spread it around ( if you have a few spots grouped together, or you break out in the same area all the time, because it can be used as a preventative treatment ). It comes in a pump bottle, so if you only have one or two spots I would suggest pressing very lightly as a full pump dispenses a lot of product (in the picture this is about half a pump).

How effective is it? On the smaller surface blemishes (be they red spots or whiteheads) this is very effective. After one application in the morning they were significantly less noticeable, and after the second application in the evening completely gone. I also had one of those painful jawline spots and it was less effective with that. It seemed that it brought the spot out to the surface fairly quickly, within a day, but than it took about 3 more days to clear.

All in all I am very pleased with how well this works. I am one of those people that if I leave a spot and don't use anything on it, it might take a few weeks for it to go completely away. And this serum did a great a job, especially with smaller blemishes, and true to description without drying out of the skin, if anything, it seemed to calm the redness down. A good emergency product to have around.
